Shilin Residence Main Hall – A Historic Home
The Shilin Residence Main Hall was originally built in 1949 as a guesthouse for foreign dignitaries by the Taiwan Provincial Government. The building, a two-story sloped-roof structure, combines wooden construction and reinforced concrete, providing a simple yet practical design. In 2006, restoration work began, and the project was completed by the end of November 2009.
Inside the residence, both the Main Hall where President Chiang Kai-shek and his wife lived, and the military barracks for staff and guards, are painted in dark green, blending seamlessly with the surrounding greenery. The design also serves a dual purpose, offering both camouflage and protection.
The small garden at the Main Hall invites visitors to enjoy the beauty of flowers, fish, and birds, creating an elegant atmosphere. The arrangement of the residence’s living spaces offers a glimpse into the everyday life of President Chiang’s family during that time.

Shilin Residence Main Hall: Present the e-voucher (QR Code) at the entrance, where staff will verify and allow you to enter.

Last admission time: 20:15. Special holidays or consecutive holidays may have different operating hours, which will be announced separately.

• This product includes one full-price ticket to the observatory (excluding 101F).
• This product includes one full-price ticket to the Shilin Official Residence main building.
